Cart Uplift Setup Checklist
To check a Cart Uplift setup, confirm that shoppers see the intended offer, can accept or decline it, and receive the correct price at checkout. Test the published theme on mobile and desktop before judging sales performance.
Begin with one feature and write down the result you expect.
1. Define the offer
Choose a recommendation, targeted cart offer, bundle, gift or shipping goal. Record eligible products or spend, available variants, any saving and quantity limits. Include destination restrictions for shipping.
If you use manual recommendations, select a short list in the app embed's Manual products setting. Use them when you know which products you want to suggest or have limited purchase history. Check the list across common baskets; it is not a separate product-specific trigger rule.
2. Check the published theme
Confirm the app embed and intended feature are enabled on the theme customers use. Test product-page Add to cart, collection quick-add and the header cart. Visit the cart page to understand that route too.
Direct purchase and accelerated checkout paths may bypass the drawer. Identify which routes display the offer rather than treating every store visit as an offer impression.
Repeat on mobile and desktop. Look for competing drawers, missing offers and blocked checkout actions.
3. Test the recommendation or paid offer
Add the qualifying item, accept the suggestion and check the variant, quantity and price. For personalised products, verify that the shopper can provide required options and that the details remain attached to the cart item.
Remove the qualifying item and check any conditional saving. Decline the offer and continue with the original purchase. Also remove the suggested item and review the total.
4. Test shipping and gift eligibility
Build baskets just below, exactly at and above each goal. Add and remove paid items, change quantities and apply promotions you intend to allow.
A gift's catalogue value should not inflate paid qualifying spend. Verify its intended zero price when eligible. An item accepted as free should not silently become a paid purchase after the basket stops qualifying.
Check an eligible shipping destination and one outside the offer's scope. For multiple currencies, verify the displayed target and checkout condition agree.
5. Verify checkout totals
Continue to the order summary with appropriate test details and stop before payment if you are only reviewing the setup. Check paid items, gift discounts, delivery charges and allowed codes.
A visible cart label does not prove checkout eligibility. Use Shopify's discount combination guidance when promotions do not combine as expected.
6. Keep a support record
- Product URL, published theme, device and entry route.
- Offer conditions and selected variants.
- Expected result and observed result.
- Date checked and changes made between checks.
Send this record to Cart Uplift support when an offer is missing or a price is incorrect. Screenshots should show the issue without exposing customer payment or personal information.
7. Review reporting
Separate impressions, accepted adds and completed attributed purchases. Keep free gifts separate from paid upsells. Check the report's definitions and note test browsing when interpreting a small sample.
Repeat the affected checks after a theme, product or promotion change. If the setup works but sales remain quiet, review exposure and relevance using our recommendation guide.
